I think that Gleevec and Theresa might be hoping, and probably a few others, too. . .
 
hopefully they'll be calling both of us tomorrow. 🙂

you know what though, i hear that in past years, sometimes they've decided on acceptances before 10/15 and some of the adcom members just go ahead and call students as early as 10/10. i don't know if this is a wives tale or if i should even be thinking about it... but my heart skips everytime my cell phone rings. asdjfa;ljfdaf. antsy.

I dont think thats true, they said at the interview that no one would be informed until the 15th at earliest. Baylor actually adheres to Oct 15th unlike some other schools.
 
yeah i do hope its not true. keep it simple, keep it straightforward. do you think they notify everyone they need to on the 15th? afdljkasdfkadfljk why am i so antsy.

I dont think they notify everyone on the 15th. They said they will rank you based on your complete app and interview based on a score they give you, and notify the top X students immediately. Then every 2 weeks they add in the new interviewees and sort again, notifying the top X students once more.

I dont know what X is, but its probably around the top 50% of each group I would imagine. In that case, however, I doubt they would be able to call all those people on one day, they might do it throughout the week.

But yeah, Im really antsy myself about this right now.
 
i'm getting really antsy too! have a midterm tomorrow, but can't concentrate....😀
 
ME! I am antsy! I have forcefully restrained myself from visiting SDN (ok, maybe 5-10 min snatches here and there) for the past three days...but today i finally caved in 😀 . so far it's been a crummy week but i would die of excitement, right in the middle of my biochem exam, if the news arrived....*floats off into dreamland, once again ignoring impending 5+ hours of cramming needed for biochem exam tomorrow...*

I'm so nervous I'm eating the kids' candy I bought for Halloween!!! :laugh:

It'll probably be a let-down tomorrow, but at least Oct 15th will have passed and I can get on with my life.

You know those cartoons where the cat gets scared by a loud noise and winds up hanging from the ceiling? That'll be me every time the phone rings tomorrow! :laugh: It's so sad I just gotta laugh...

i am soooooooooo on edge right now. i now not only compulsively check email, but also my voice messages on my cell phone *just in case* i somehow missed the ring tone that i put on extra-extra loud. i have heard nothing...and am dying...dying....*wastes away, eyes vacantly fixed on computer screen, one hand glued to mouse and the other clutching cell phone*...

i have a midterm in a few hours, but my mind is completely occupied with the phone and email..

So Major Major Major hasn't called anybody yet? I wasn't really expecting a call; my interview was mediocre at best, but I was still harboring a slim hope that I might get a call. I really loved the school though. It's really too bad it had to be my first interview.

just exactly how many of you are waiting for some word from baylor. we could probably see the 50% acceptance in effect if we figured out who interviewed there.

also, if you interviewed on the 5th of sept, what was your fun factoid that you had to share? maybe that'll help me put a face with a screenname. i was the one from UT austin who obsessively watched food network. haha. as;lkdfja;lsdkj. waiting.

One question, what are the letters at the end of your posts?

I was there on the first interview day. Nontrad from UT. I think I might have said something about all my factoids being taken (semester in AUS, nontrad, etc), but that I was probably the oldest interviewee there. (I'm told I don't look that old though! haha) I was one of the few gals in a pantsuit and my screen name does happen to be my first name. 🙄 Too old to think of anything cool! 😉
 
so. nothing in the mail today, either. guess they're....behind?!?!?

i didn't interview the 1st day...but i introduced myself as the i-banker from dallas/new york who studied in england...i was wearing a *gasp!* gray suit with *double gasp!* a sleeveless shirt inside (but i think i only took off the jacket on the walking tour.)

Im still waiting too. Every phone call or voicemail I get my heart jumps. Ive never been so edgy in my life. Ah well, back to class. I hope adcoms leave voicemails, because otherwise they will never be able to get in touch with me between classes and being in old/no cell signal buildings during the daytime.
 
remember that blonde guy who was leading the interview day? i forgot his name -- but he said he was called at night during a birthday party when he was drunk. haha. so we can all go on feeling antsy through the evening too. as;ljfadsljfa;sdljf. my letters at the end are me spazzing out uncontrollably every few minutes. hahaha;lkjsfa;lkjfasd.
 
I GOT IN! my fingers are so trembly right now, i just hyperventilated for about 10 minutes. the dean called me and told me i was in....my heart is still pounding....I AM SOOOOOOOOOO ECSTATIC! shock....amazement...i can't believe it..........

me too! i just spent 10 minutes pacing barefoot in a parking lot not knowing what to do with myself, except cry and pee in my pants, though i did neither. I am so excited about Baylor. On another note, I got accepted to Vanderbilt today too! But Baylor, here I come.

I think they call pretty late into the night actually, based on a story told at the interview. They might call tomorrow as well, since they have to call 3-interviews worth of acceptances at one time.

hey theresa,
the dean specifically mentioned there was a "huge pile of acceptances" that he was going through..it's definitely going to take him a while to get thru it...so i'm sure you are in there (by virtue of that last name starting with a "W", it may take him a while to get to it!)

here's hoping for tomorrow for you ~

:clap: :clap: congrats, i knew it would happen. btw, no joke about sounding like a *****. i'm mortified thinking of my reaction this afternoon (typical girly, jumping up and down, repeating "omg omg omg" over and over again in the phone.) i almost told the dean "my sympathetic system is going into overdrive", but thankfully restrained myself. *embarrasment* now that is the ultimate sign of the premed nerd. 😀

ok... this is silly, but does anyone know if the dean calls people in alpha order, or by date of interview? to the people who've gotten calls so far, do your last names start with letters close to the beginning of the alphabet?
 
hahaah i would like to know that too. since my last name starts with Y. and it looks like yours starts with W. hahaha. i hate being asian.

Thanks, Spumoni! You and Gleevec have been really great to me today. It's a bit tough, but I'm okay. Don't think I hadn't already considered the last name issue!!! :laugh:

So I may have to wait on Baylor a while... I'm not giving up the hope by a long shot! But will you and Gleevec still talk to me if I wind up at that other med school accross the street??? 😉 :laugh:

While I like both Baylor and UTH, lets not get too carried away here. This is the very first day of acceptances, and I dont think they have finished calling all the people they accepted. Furthermore, this is the first of twelve possible rounds of calls they will make. So I cant even use a baseball analogy sayign we are in the first inning, because there are only nine innings in baseball and we have TWELVE. And just so I dont sound like Im full of BS, heres some math to back me up.

No one heard from Baylor until the afternoon, so lets say the earliest was 3. If they accepted around half of their first three interview sessions, or around a 100 students, they could not have possible called all of them.

It takes about 5 minutes for each call, so any human can only do about 10 calls an hour (I think one dean is making all the calls). So it would take 10 hours for him to make all the calls. He probably did half of them today (3-8ish) and will do another half tomorrow.

I bet its because your last name begins with a "W". Dont worry, tomorrow should be a great day. 😉

my last name starts with "k". so far, it seems like the ppl who have yet to hear today have last names that start after "R". gleevec's example pretty much spells it out--i'm sure the dean's going to start making the calls for the last part of the alphabet tomorrow....
 
in light of how this waiting drama is panning out, i would almost prefer a sterile, impersonal, convenient and boring email over a phone call. almost.
 
anyone heard anything today (10/16)? i think i'd almost agree with the last post, about a nice, plain email either way. at least then it'd be over with and we'd know.
