BBA, BSN, or B.S in Bio Pre-Med Major

I have struggled for an insane amount of time trying to decide what to major in. I have always known that I want to be a doctor so when it comes to undergrad, I originally wanted experience and training as closely related to med school and the life of a doctor as possible. I love science and thoroughly enjoyed classes like A&P in high school.
I have considered nursing because I would gain experience in a clinical setting, be able to work with and care for patient's, and gain a respect for nurses once I become a doctor and more. I thought this would be as close as I could get to a med school experience. But, after some research, I have learned that this path is less encouraged and even looked down upon by many. I've also always loved leadership and management, so i have considered majoring in management and receiving a BBA.

I have considered these non-traditional majors not only because degrees in chem and bio are mostly pre-professional but I feel that a bachelors in nursing may enhance and increase my passion to help others and inspire me to further my education to become a doctor. I also feel that a degree in business or management will benefit me in the future to gain leadership skills as well as the skills and knowledge to start a prospering private practice. What are your thoughts on this?

Pick what you'd use if med school doesn't pan out. If not med school would you rather be a nurse? Or have something like a chem major?

You should consider which degree will give you the highest GPA and which is most marketable if your plans for medical school don't work out.

Keep in mind the number of hours required for labs and clinicals as these can be time sinks. If you want to be a doctor, you may find nursing faculty will be hostile toward you; in addition, you may be frustrated by the need to embrace nursing philosophy.

I feel if you don’t want to be a nurse, you shouldn’t train to be a nurse. The minimal amount of clinical experience you need for medical school can be met many other more efficient ways and you won’t always satisfy the prerequisites with a nursing degree anyway.

As for your other options, I have a BS in biology and if Med school hadn’t worked out I would have been in a rough spot. Business plus med school prerequisites may be the better choice, depending on your backup plans.

Pick what you would enjoy the most and what would help you get the highest GPA possible. These are often the same thing, in my opinion/experience.

Does anyone have any other ideas or suggestions for pre-med majors? I'd love to hear your thoughts, especially on some non-traditional majors. I'd love to hear about your majors, experiances, and how they affected you in your journey to med school.

(I love sciences, especially those like biology, anatomy, physiology, etc. But, I'm skeptical of strictly pre-professional majorsn)

I was a nurse before med school. Nobody cared. Honestly, do whatever you want. Just keep your grades up and do well on MCAT.
