Hi,

I am new to this forum. I was wondering if any could explain to me what type of classes would be considered as BCPM GPA? Do sociology, psychology, microbiology, astronomy, statistics and other behavioral science or math courses count as BCPM courses?

Thank you!

thanks for the quick reply guys.

So stat is under BCPM but for my major the stat was listed as Psych 240 Stat. Does that still count as BCPM? And is BCPM and sGPA the same thing? I'm really sorry for all the noob questions!

Not sure about the psych stat question... I think it would still count.

Typically, BCPM GPA = science GPA. However, AACOMAS does not include math courses in it's science GPA calculations... so for AACOMAS, BCP = science GPA.

It depends on which department the course falls under. If it falls under the Psychology department, then it will be considered a "Behavioral Science" and not included in the sGPA. Actually, even if it falls under the Statistics department, then it will be considered a "Math" and also not included in the sGPA.

AMCAS' BCPM is much more restrictive in what is included than AACOMAS' sGPA. Although the later doesn't include Math like the former, it does include a much wider array of science courses, including the less "hardcore" ones (i.e. Nutrition, Geology, Astronomy, Kinesiology, etc...)

This is great. It cleared up so much confusion. Thanks guys! Now I can start calculating sGPA and cGPA to see how much of an underdog I am!

Technically BCPM is an MD thing. Doesn't exist for AACOMAS.
