BCPM Grading Question

Hi, I had a question about the BCPM grading. I'm a Psychology/Biology Major, and one of the classes I'm taking next quarter is Insect Behavior. This class is offered jointly with both Psychology, and Biology students, so credit is given to both departments. (One of the primary reasons I joined was to kill two birds with one stone)

However, I couldn't register with the Biology prefix since it was full by the time I registered, so I settled with the Psychology prefix where there was room. It's still the same class with both psych and bio students, but instead of being read as "Bio" on my transcript, it's read as "Psych". So, my question is, will this class be factored into my Science GPA since it is offered jointly? Or would I have to drop the class as a psych student and sign up as a biology student for it to count toward my science GPA? Thanks.

It won't be considered as a BCMP course if your registered for it with a Psych prefix. If you were registered with the Bio prefix it would be a BCMP course. It won't matter that its the same course.

I'd generally agree with this. However, you may still be able to get it as BCMP credit if you list it as such on your AMCAS app. You're basically just limiting your chances of it working out for you.

List it as a biology course and let AMCAS decide. I had several anthropology cross listed courses count for my BCPM gpa even though they weren't listed as "BIO" on my transcript.

Thanks for the replies, it's very much appreciated 🙂. I have a follow up question: A couple quarters ago I took Biopsych, but it isn't offered jointly with biology. It is limited strictly to the Psychology students. Would it be possible that I could suggest to the AMCAS that Biopsych would count as a biology course?

yes if it's biobased. I know my neuropsych course was FAR deeper on its bio than any gen bio class ive taken. If it's bcpm content it's bcpm.

You designate whether something is BCPM or not, and the AMCAS will agree/disagree based on the content of the course, not the department it was offered.
