Hi. I have a 3.67 overall GPA, but my BCPM GPA is only 3.36. Are schools going to look at this gap of .31 and think, "This candidate's strengths obviously lie in the non-science realm, so why is he applying for medical school?"

FYI, my MCAT is a 37O, with a 14 in Physicial Sciences. Ironically, it was the physics and chemistry courses that dragged my BCPM down.

Thanks.

The low BCPM GPA will raise concerns in an adcomm's mind. Due to the excellent MCAT score, they will likely look into it further and see where the problem lies. If you have a lot of bio courses with a recent upward trend, you may be fine. Hopefully you took those Chem and Physics courses early in your college years.

It is indeed ironic that your PS is so high. It proves you "got it". The low grades in that area will reflect more on your work ethic at that time in your college years.

It will definitely put you at a disadvantage but you are in a better position than many people who have a low gpa and do not have a great mcat to balance it out like yours. I don't think its bad enough to not apply. Just dont expect like 10 interviews.
