BCPS required to do MTM services?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Not required. Useful additional credentials for MTM might be BCACP and APhA training certificate in MTM.

I could see an insurance company wanting BCPS to pay for MTM claims but based off my experience with MTM Outcomes system they do not care who submits the MTM claims. I think even a pharmacy technician can do it.

I think BCACP could be helpful. Based on my experience with Outcomes, technicians and interns can document information, but a licensed pharmacist must agree that the information is correct and submit the claim.

This announcement may be interesting: http://www.accp.com/announcements/providerstatus.aspx. It mentions "ACCP will advocate that clinical pharmacists possess the following in order to be recognized as providers within the Medicare program." While the specific phrase "MTM" isn't include, many pharmacists provide MTM's to patients with Medicare.
