do you guys think i might have a chance?

i have a below 3.0 gpa and i cant seem to score higher than 19 on my practice tests even though i know my shhhh. stupid mistakes are killing me!! 🙁 im applying to usc, nyu, boston, tufts, howard, uop. do i stand a chance this year?

Hey, if you have below 3.0 your going to need 22+ to be competitive.

I scored significantly lower on my practice tests than I did on my real DAT... (I was getting around 19s... got a 21AA on the real thing) It's true that you're going to need to do really well to have a chance with <3.0 GPA though. Don't get frustrated, just get motivated.

Not to be harsh or anything, but the FAR more important factor is that with such a low GPA, you should have gotten your application completed a long time ago. You may want to consider doing a 1 yr masters and applying next year if you still haven't taken your DAT.

Whatever you end up doing, good luck to you!

apply for a masters, get a 4.0 and if you get the same DAT score, you will be able to get in.

and I wouldn't count on the hope that my score will go up on the actual DAT... my experience was that I did about the same...Some scores went up drastically and others dropped.

I second the masters. You have to show them that you can handle graduate level course work. Apply to a masters program (its not that hard to get in), and try to maintain a 4.0 in your classes. Like others have said, your score generally raises from the practice tests. I was getting 18s or so and I wound up with a 20 on the real test. So take the DAT next year and apply early next year. That would be my suggestion if you really want this. And, I know you don't want to think about this, but if you don't get in, you will always have that masters in your back pocket.

1. apply for masters in bio or mph at CSUN. Start in January 09

2. study and put into long term memory what you already know during the next 3-4 months

3. get ur grades for your first semester of master's program in May

4. Send your transcript in may, apply in may, BE QUICK

5. Start going at it 110% for the DAT studying right after the semester (Mid may to June or July).

6. Take the DAT

7. Apply to 15+ schools

8. WHILE YOU'RE AT ALL THIS CRAP, DO VOLUNTEER WORK MAN... I've been telling you this issh for a while now.

9. Get over 19

10. you get in

I PROMISE...

22 AA or TS?

I have a 2.9 overall/3.1 science undergrad gpa, but I'm in a 1-year masters program in biochem.

21AA/22TS/20PAT

I've been wondering what kind of DAT scores I need to be competitive with my low GPA.

thanks guys! ya i told myself if i score high i will apply, but if i dont i will get a masters at csun and apply early for the next cycle. just wanted to know everyones opinion on this to get some feedback.

unless you're GOD or have crazy powers (ie. superman or power-rangers), don't give answers to questions such as the mentioned one.

👍 GOOD LUCK

EVeryone on here says that ...

1) How do you get into graduate school with that GPA without experience etc (for Dentistry we show our enthusiasm by shadowing a dentist etc)

2) It's not that easy to get a 4.0 :S

Hey man have you submitted yet ( you didn't mention) ?

Just show some determination, you can do it! My grades are real low and my DAT scores only ok. But I spent a long time just bringing my GPA up to what it is. I think schools see that. I also didnt apply for a masters, because when I first started again no programs would take me.
