Is there a source on the net that goes over the Ethics and Patient-physician relationship questions pertaining to Beh science? I remember there being something about a Washington med school's website that had good content on this. Could someone help with this? I've got a good understanding of these topics already, but would like some examples and questions to work with.

I'm going through Qbank, but I find some of their questions really out there, and at times, even poorly written. I've also gone through all the usmlerx beh. science questions, but there weren't that many to work with that just dealt with the ethics and patient-physician relationship aspect of things. I also took a peep at the pretest book for behavioral science, but I got a feeling it tested low-yield arcane facts.

Feedback on this would be appreciated.

Hi Dr. Pak,

Not sure if this is what you're looking for but the University of Washington has a bioethics website with an array of topics, a few case studies per topic and discussion. I wouldn't say this is high yield to use in the last week or so of studying but if you have the time I would give it a read...

UW Bioethics

I agree that USMLERx didn't have much with respect to patient doctor relationship questions...HY BSci has a few scenarios in the back and the NBME exams have quite a few scenarios as well.

Thanks Jack P, my exam is in a week, so I'm actually looking for HY, realistic questions that can appear on the exam. What have you heard about the pretest Beh science questions? I went over just a few of them, but they seemed to be really arcane stuff (eg, what's the most important concern an adolscent will have regarding their disease... ans=confidentiality). It seemed like stuff they'd never test, but if other people have a positive experience with the pretest books, I'd go back and take another look.

I really enjoyed the Pretest Clinical Vignettes book (orange) and used it for a full simulated exam, however i do not think that there were many D-P relationship questions. The comprehensive exam in the back of the BRS BSci book is okay but I thought the best prep was from Qbank...I didn't get the PreTest BSci book. I think the Kaplan notes are supposed to be quite good as well...it seems that with the D-P questions it's common sense and luck of the draw.

Do you have the Kaplan online lectures? Just listen to the ones on ethics. They are under "step 1 online lectures" then pick "Behavior Sciences" then click on the ethics lectures. In addition, do all the ethics questions on QBank. Pick "Behavior Scineces" w/ "General Principles.

Hey DrPak, I glanced through the PreTest Beh. Science book and I believe that it is a very very poorly written book which is JUST NOT REPRESENTATIVE of anything that has been mentioned in any of the other review books including BRS, HY or even Kaplan. If you were to listen to me, STAY AWAY from it.

Thanks, that's helpful to know.

@gschl1234, yes I do have the Kaplan lectures and went over Dr. Daughtery's lectures on ethics and the physician patient relationship issues. I thought they were awesome.

I watched the Daugherty lectures too...the 20 rules on the patient physician relationship were excellent, which lecture is the ethics in? Or is that all amalgamated in the one PPR lecture?

Well, I got my video set from Pakistan, where I live. The set I have has the ethics section on file numer 18a.

The Kaplan online lectures cover all the ethics that may come up on the exam.

I'm referring to the "online" lecture. Click on "Behavior Scinece" then select the last 3 lectures: "Ethical and Legal Issues" it's about 45 minutes total.
