I have a solid background in psychology and mental health, and have been intending to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology. I have a BA in psychology, and years of experience working as a research assistant in various psychology labs, and now within the department of psychiatry within a med school.

I'm considering possibly not going for the aforementioned doctorate, and instead pursuing an MPH with an aim of focusing on behavioral health matters.

I'm looking at options like this:
http://www.health.usf.edu/publichealth/cfhbehavioralmph.html

I'm in the early stages of looking at this, so my thoughts are somewhat incoherent at this point.

Early searches on the following haven't yielded a whole lot:
-What kinds of jobs could I reasonably expect to attain with this?
-What would my job responsibilities be?
-What are the job prospects for this kind of area?

I realize these are extremely broad questions, but they're stemming from the fact that I'm feeling a bit bewildered at the moment as I examine possible alternative to the field of clinical psychology, but one in which I could remain focused on mental health matters.

Any information is welcome. Thanks in advance.

If you were considering a PhD in clinical psych then that degree is considerably different than a MPH. What are you long term career goals? The training you would receive from completing a clinical psych program would be much different than any master's level program, including an MPH in any area of focus. Have you looked at health psychology programs (master and doctorate levels)? These health focused psych programs might appeal to you if you are considering combining public health & psych.
