I'm applying to mostly clinical psychology Ph.D. programs but I'm also interested in behavioral neuroscience. Do behavioral neuroscience programs require a background in the life sciences for admission?

I have a B.A. in psychology and am expecting a M.A. in clinical psychology May 2009. I'd like the option of being able to do applied work, but after really thinking about what I want to do when I grow up, I'm much more interested in research and academia. Any insight would be appreciated.

I know quite a number of people in behavioural neuroscience programs with B.A. (as opposed to B.Sc) degrees-- You'll want to check the specific division websites for the schools you're interested in, but for many (even most, I would guess), your B.A. should be fine.

i dropped out of a neuroscience phd program way back when. granted i lasted a whole month there before i dropped out, but working knowledge of chemistry and biology was expected. i did not drop out for academic reasons.

if you have to google "ester bond" then you probably are asking for a world of hurt by applying to such a program.
