being single sucks

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Alternately, you could have wasted your entire school experience shooting for that C average cuz ****, as long as you pass you graduate.
Then knock up one of those dumb sluts that passes for hot when you're 23, married her cuz "it's the right thing to do", and crank out another cuz...well, it just happened eh? Set on your solid trajectory for a squalid lower middle class existence you stay up late, sitting in your rented living room/office/dining room jerking off to squalid porn to the even cadence of that now 50 lbs overweight bovine corn fed nibblet snoring from the bedroom. Eventually you give up, having never really mustered past half mast anyway, something about the ever present smell of faintly spoiled milk that has become your signature sent. You know better, but you click on that University of Phoenix add in the corner of your screen anyway. The next hour you spend lost in nebulous musing of maybe working on an RN part time after work is as much a meager essay in useless masturbation as your actual attempt at masturbation. when exhaustion finally trumps the discomfort of that hand-me-down mattress you got from her parents when they upgraded, you fall asleep as you do every night, wishing like hell you'd studied more in college.

1. Being married is pretty cool.

2. Being single was pretty cool.

3. Being in a relationship to be in a relationship always sucks.

4. The chicks you banged in college were not victims. They chose to let you treat them however you treated them. If they didn't like it, they'll learn from it as you seem so be doing. Unless you have a guilt fetish, get the **** over it. Treat women better in the future. Treat yourself better in the future.

5. Who gives a **** what your friends are doing. Support the decisions they make in their lives, make your own decisions about yours.

This is brilliant.

To the OP: Chill pill.

you are still young. plenty of time..
also
"You will lose your friends and your dignity. "Hey bud, you want to go to the gym later?" "No man, I'm watching Chocolat over at Stacy's house.." Do you REALLY want to have to say that? There's a statistic I learned in Human Sexuality that as a man ages he loses his friends. SCREW THAT!!!! There's a reason for it: women."

1. there is nothing wrong with telling your friends that, believe me, one day, most of them will say the same thing and some of them will wish they had a relationship they could say that about.
my husband .. likes to bake cakes with me or at least he's good a pretending.
2. find a girl who doesn't watch.. chocolate....
3. men do lose contact with other men because.. they don't have babies, so they don't have baby daddy support groups..
you can work to mend that.

is Stacy Asian 🙂?

Actually, I think the OP is right. Having casual sex with different attractive people is wayyyy over rated. Being single definitely sucks. Plus you don't have a counterpart to spend money on, so you end up spending it on yourself and I mean no one wants to do that right?

A possible solution ( or at least one that works for me) is to form a good group of singletons. That way if your friends are busy on valentine's day, you got a good group (preferably guys AND girls) to hang out and go to dinner with. My friends and I have been having valentine's get-togethers for a while..and its evolved to them showing up even if they are in a relationship lol. Just going out to dinner, movies, random adventures together = good friends and you become surprisingly open and comfortable with each other.

Most of the people I graduated HS with (only FOUR years ago!!!) are in serious relationships or engaged/married now but it doesn't bother me that I'm not. I'm happy for them if they think they found the one, but I can't help but think it's premature. It's like decided that chocolate is your favorite ice cream when you haven't tried any other flavors. Good for you for trying all the flavors lol 👍

note: when referring to flavor, I mean personalities/types of people, NOT sexual partners haha

i know it's already been pointed out how great this is, but i am pretty sure i have a girl-crush on you. this post is as good as fight club + trainspotting combined. thanks for summing up life and relationships!

fight club AND trainspotting?! We'd best stay away from each other, risk of making out could be high. lol

I feel like my life can be best summed up in the form of a defunct Snickers commercial circa 6ish years ago, one of those ones in which it is illustrated how the consequences of low blood sugar could have been avoided by simply enjoying a delicious snickers bar.

It was a guy dressed as a giant dog working as a greeter at an amusement park. A very excited child runs up and asks him, "Hey! Are you really Barky the Dog?!", and the man says (voice tinged with that unmistakable hint of prison sex and many, many cigarettes), "Listen kid, I'm just a man who's made a lot of mistakes." 😛

the only thing i got from this post is that you should definitely sleep with a lot of people before settling down. 😛

on another note...

i was once told that i should marry a man who likes vanilla ice cream, not some bs like rocky road, because if we were married he would eventually spend his time looking for the nuts, marshmallows, sprinkles, and whipped cream. apparently men who like vanilla don't cheat.

why else did I work hard in undergrad to get into a good med school? Advanced M.R.S. degree, duhhh. I'm gonna find me some hot man doctor, mmm men in scrubs, so sexy

Where is Student Dating Network when you need it? Search for guys by ice cream flavor...

Your being sarcastic right??? 😕

I honestly didn't think guys cared so much about relationships, to the point their practically writting essays on forums...

I've never heard the ice cream flavor haha. I personally don't enjoy vanialla all that much and lean towards the more exotic flavors. Does that say something about me?

The only piece of advice I've gotten from my mom on love: Only marry a man who loves you more than you love him. If he loves you that much, he'll stick around and be a good husband. It worked for her 🙂

👍👍👍
Yeah...I'm going for a dual degree...the MD/MRS!

Seriously though, men do look great in scrubs. Almost every man can look kinda sexy in them whereas girls definitely do not. Oh well!

I can't read your font!

being single is not as cool as living in paradise with the girl of your dreams being perfectly happy every day...

but it's a hell of a lot better than being in some toxic relationship where neither one of you is free nor happy.. which is what the majority of people find when they start a relationship with someone for the sake of being in a relationship (jmo).

lol. being immature about relationships and "fooling around" for a while is so overrated

i.e. being proud to be a ***** is so overrated

Guys tend to do that through the 4 years of college. Then they get a job, get a girl, and settle down.

Or not.

but sometimes it's all you've got. ;p
stop making it so easy to flirt with you. oO
but lol, that's just cold. it's not like she's pre-law.

edit- nevermind i just remembered she made the thread about going to PA school to get into MD

no, hunny, i realize you're young, but i want you to realize that you gotta have a more self-respecting attitude! but oh well, what can i say? it's just not cool to look for the right person to spend your life with right from the get-go. it's better to be wreckless

Oh good! I don't wanna have a reputation on SDN 😉

I do have self respect and all that good stuff, seriously, I'm a good girl ^_^

It's good to know so many med school guys like commitment and all that crap, just in case I meet someone!

hahaha i do like you

and i'm so glad im not getting with a med school guy! just a really nice and sexy guy that can take care of things while i stress out about my workload! lol

Personally, I'm glad that I'm single entering into med school. It's not fun right now when all of my friends have built-in dates to events, but it would not be fun having to decide whether to attempt a long-distance relationship or break up (it would kind of kill the "acceptance high"). Also, most of the doctors I've talked to say that VERY few relationships between doctors and non-doctors work in the long-run because it's difficult for people outside of the medical field to understand what you're going through. Especially for female pre-meds/med students/doctors, it's hard to find someone who is okay with your life style and such. The MD/MRS might not be such a terrible idea 😛🙄

Med school guys can't be nice, sexy, and take care of things? 🙄

Never, ever, date a woman who suffers from migraines. These same women often suffer from IBS, fibromyalgia, somatic disorders and other "issues"...and will in the long run put you through a world of mental/emotional pain. Heed my words.

I agree.

Wtf is a migraine anyway.

I think they make it up.

when a woman says she has a migrane it occasionally means "GTF off me. I'm tired."

oh.. so thats what it means..

this goes along the same lines with...

"whats wrong babe?"

"nothing"

*wants to pull hair out*

lol, what?

If you think it's bad now, just wait until they start having kids.

Surely you are referring to this.

I believe that I am conflicted but decided. I am deathly afraid of getting STDs, otherwise, I would love being single and having various casual short term relationships. However, again, I'm clean and I want to stay that way.

That isn't to say that I want to be in a long-term relationship with the first nice girl/guy to tell me I'm pretty. I doubt that I'll ever find anyone who is the right combination of strange for me.

So single is the life for me, but for people who are not picky, and not STD paranoid, either life seems as if it could be genuinely fulfilling.

I think people get really caught up in thinking that marriage and family is the best thing in life. I personally prefer my lab =)

Condoms my friend, condoms.

My mind and my body are not up for sharing 😀 so happily single I shall be

Gotta love our prudes. You can't judge sex and relationships if YOU HAVENT EVER HAD ONE!!!! I wish girls that were extremely prude wore some type of label on their forehead or like I wish there was an actual chastity belt.

Where does it say I'm judging sex and relationships in any of the posts in this thread??? As for being a prude that's another story... and my post wasn't prudish AT ALL

There is actually, but I don't think the people who utilize them would be considered prudes by anyone's standards. lol

LMAO If only you knew me... I had my fair share of rendezvous with strangers, acquaintances, friends and french tutors of various sexes and races, but I calmed down when I came to the conclusion that if you don't hit the brakes you'll eventually hit something.

I've been in two relationships that were quasi long term, each lasting a little over a year. I lived with one for 6 or 7 months, a suma kum lauda triple major who was more devoted to books than me, which I find inexplicably attractive. The other wants to be a marine, both are emotionally stunted and said I made them feel "inadequate" by being frank with them about their personal issues and lack of initiative/manliness in the relationship. But what can I say, I like my men manly and my girls girly 🙄

So you can get that label gun out and have at it 👍

Complaining about being single is the best way to stay single.

Instead, figure out how you're not going to be single anymore. Be confident. Talk to girls you find attractive. Since you're a premed, you may benefit from a prescription of PUA material and a healthy, concurrent dose of a tablespoon of salt.

This post had sarcasatic connotations to it. I myself am considered prude by many people.

This song = the way the OP probably feels:

I have heard this too, but it seems to be emotionally unfair or something. I don't know. 😕
