Ive been to various sites and most of them hail neurosurgery as the most highly paid surgical speciality out there. But neurosurgeons also work some of the longest hours if im not mistaken. What id like to know is what are the average surgeons fees for the core neurosurgical procedures in private practice and how vastly different is it from other surgery fields like cardiothoracics or plastics

If what you're after is pay/hr, you'll find the highest ratio in plastics.

... or you could do a derm residency + mohs fellowship and hang a sign that says "dermatologic surgeon" and work 40 hours (or less) per week.

🙄

mohs is a license to print money, although the new medicare set up has taken away reimbursement for doctors who do the resection and the reconstruction.
