Hey has anyone heard from Bellarmine DPT yet???

I have an interview Jan. 17th! 🙂 Has anybody else interviewed yet???

I had an interview at Bellarmine on Jan. 3rd.
The interview was one on one with a faculty member and it was very relaxed. They told me that I would hear back from them in 2 - 3 weeks.

Ok. That makes me feel better! What did you think about the program?

I thought that the overall program sounded pretty impressive, and the facilities were pretty good too. It is a relatively small school, and the DPT program at Bellarmine is contained in one building, (which they are currently talking about expanding upon vertically). There are two main PT classrooms, and the teachers rotate between classes instead of students doing so. Umm, also during the program, unlike many schools, you get to work with a cadaver both your first and second year as a DPT student. Oh, and the gross anatomy lab has had a relatively new ventilation system installed, which should help with the fumes.

OH! Something else I learned from the instructor that interviewed me: Bellarmine is starting a Neuro PT residency program next year! So that is pretty cool if you are interested in that type of PT.

Hey adw253! I still need to schedule my interview but was wondering what kind of questions they asked. You said it was laid back so did they just ask questions like why you chose to apply to Bellarmine? Also, did they ask about Vision 2020, direct access, etc...? I hope not! lol

They really only asked me a few basic questions like:
-why Belarmine?
-why PT?
-how will your time management differ between undergrad and grad?
The answers that I gave to those questions basically determined what else they asked me. Like I mentioned that one of my reasons for choosing PT was because a large number of my relatives are PTs. The interviewer then asked me about my experiences working with them. We also talked a little about new policies and laws that are being enacted for private practice PTs. They however did not ask me anything about Vision 2020 or direct access.

Right on. Thanks a bunch! I hope you hear great news from them soon. 🙂 I'll be interviewing with them on the 27th.

Hey everyone,
I'm filling out the personal data form and was wondering how long your responses were for the essay style questions? Also, do they incorporate your responses in your interview or do they collect it and review it after you leave? Thanks so much! I'm interviewing next week.

Mine were short and straight to the point. The interview was based off my responses and the question I wrote down to ask! The interview was very easy going! Not stressful at all.

Hey guys!

I interviewed at Bellarmine on January 9th- they told me since they do rolling admissions, I wouldn't hear back for 4-6 weeks. Well, I got an acceptance letter this past Saturday!

I was admitted to one other school (Southwest Baptist) so far, so I believe I'll send Bellarmine my deposit (it's only $100) because they need it by February 2nd. I am so pumped I got in!

To add on what others said, they are expanding their program this year. Historically, they've had 36 students, I believe, in their program- this year they're going to have more (and now I can't remember if it's going to be 48 or 60- too many schools to keep this all straight!). That being said, they are just now starting construction on their expanded facilities- so I think the summer/fall semesters are going to be verrry tight with the space they currently have to utilize. Still, it seems like it's going to be a great improvement.

I'm not positive I'll end up attending Bellarmine- I am really hoping to get into Midwestern (I could commute since I already live in the western suburbs of Chicago!), but we'll see.

Let me know when you guys hear from Bellarmine and if you'll be attending!

Hey all!

I had my interview this past Friday, the 27th! This was my first interview this cycle so I was really nervous BUT it was not as nerve wracking as I thought it would be. I too was asked the general questions in addition to a question about direct access. LFpt 2009 is right, they are expanding and will be accepting 60 students this year. They are also looking to hire more faculty to keep the 12:1 student to faculty ratio as well! I was extremely impressed with the program. I also stayed after my interview for an information session they were having. According what I learned, the interview is a total of 75 points with 15 categories worth 5 points each. They will take the points accrued by each interviewee into account when deciding who to accept. They also mentioned that they had 631 applicants this year and are interviewing 150 individuals. ALSO, they accept up to 50% of their undergraduate health science majors into the DPT program.

hope this info helps!

I was waitlisted...thank God I was accepted somewhere else! Good luck to everybody!!!

How should I expect to hear my response from Bellarmine? E-mail, snail mail, or phone call?

I received a letter in the mail about 1-2 weeks after the interview.

Having to wait 1-2 weeks isn't bad at all considering they told you to expect to hear them back within 4-6 weeks! I hope my wait is shorter than the 6-8 weeks they predicted, but odds are it won't be since they communicate through mail and I'm all the way out in California.🙁

I was waitlisted at Southwest Baptist but had the opportunity to visit the campus last summer during a trip out to Missouri. If I had to choose between SBU and Bellarmine, I would choose Bellarmine. I like how they are very student centered and allow students to have contact with patients in their first year and begin clinicals in the second year. SBU students complete all the textbook material in the first two years and take the entire third year to do clinicals. This is just how I would go about making a decision. I know there are many other factors than just this that come into play. I hope that helps you make your decision!

I hope all goes well with Midwestern!

I received a letter from them on February 17th. My interview itself was on February 2nd. You should call them or email the secretary, Michele Thomas. I would call them on Monday just in case!

ugh! that is so frustrating. I interviewed about a week before you and I was expecting the usual 2-3 weeks. I contacted the secretary on Feb 10th and she responded with I should hear back by the end of Feb or first part of March. Don't you think that is weird? What do you suggest....just wait until the rest of the week before I call? Or I was thinking of e-mailing the person I interviewed with.

If she said to wait til beginning of March, I would wait and call on Friday. That is easier to say though!

I think we can all say that we are all freaking out a bit!
