i should be applying to d-school the next cycle but i dont have my ochem series done n wont finish them till my senior year. with that i want to make sure my first shot at applying is a good one. my grades are in the B range with a few As and Cs and one D. I would like to start consider doing a masters. Im in so-cal and i know some schools have one year master programs-would any of you recommend that? maybe those of you who got into d-school the second (or third) time around-what do you think? and what would you do differently? maybe do a masters? idk..i just know my grades will need to get better n more exposure to the practice/possible clinical exp?

anyone willing to give out some advice? 🙁

I'm a know nothing - but if you shared your GPA & DAT I'm sure some other people will help you out.

My understanding is that the point of you doing a masters would be if you didnt get in this upcoming cycle and wanted to improve your application. Before anyone can say if a masters is right for you they would need to know what kind of GPA you have and if you're a science major. If you havnt taken much science and have a medium gpa... you might as well do a postbacc rather than masters. Get what I mean?

my sci gpa is 3.1 but ive taken only ~4 sci classes so far.

i still have a year of ochem, semester of physics and the rest of my upper division bio to finish out.

i know if i apply the next cycle my app wont stand out unless i get solid DATs-but again-i wont take my ochem series till next fall of my senior year. and when i graduate ill have a year in between. i dont want to take a break from classes and would rather jump into working on a master-i do like school (dork!) and think it could be interesting-i also would use that time to continue with shadowing and volunteering rather than spending the whole year just shadowing/getting hrs etc
