Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not Dental schools accept credits for prereqs from UC Berkeley extension. I am a UC Berkeley student looking to finishing all my prereqs before by my senior year (classes that I need are filled for the summer). Has anyone taken classes at Berkeley extension and have trouble with specific dental schools accepting the credits?

Thanks

It depends on if the classes are extension courses, or normal courses on campus that you simply enroll in through the extension. If they're the latter, then you're fine.

I guess they would be considered different classes, since those from extension are not located on the Berkeley campus. Im guessing some dental schools wouldnt accept those as credits then? But I don't see the different between Berkeley extension and a postback program; their technically both from non "accredited 4 year universities"

I took about 5 classes at berkeley extension. Yes, they are accepted so long as they're equivelents to undergrad classes. I think the course designation is an "X" in front of the course number.

I did one semester as a post-bacc student there. Dental schools do accept credits taken at UCBx.

Would a class from the extension titled: Physics 2 X3B. Would dental schools such as ucsf, uop accept this course or any course titled including X for credit?

Thank you everyone for your response

I really believe so. The program is designed for that purpose (a buffer before you go to a professional school). It's rather lame if the credits won't be accepted by dental schools. I would think that, at least, UC schools will take them with no problem.
