Will you please elaborate more on this Big Green Egg... I'm very interested in this grill.

Best
My Big Green Egg and the BBQ Guru Temp monitor/fan w/ wifi that i got for it.

i can smoke a brisket for 20-24hrs without worry.
its awesomeness cannot be overstated.\

Worst
2012 GMC Sierra. looks great but have had nothing but problems with it.

Best:
Wasp and Hornet spray -Cheap 4 dollar can shoots 25 feet and slays on contact. Fun and useful, and is the product that most closely follows what it advertises I have bought in years.
Zagg keyboard for Ipad-Allows use of exclusively Ipad at work so I never have to wait for some stupid nurse to finish documenting when the patients last bowel movement was.
Food Saver with jar attachment-Goodbye freezer burn, hello fresh hops/grain
Chemex coffee pot-20 bucks, good coffee.
Theater room-Not quite in the budget constraints, but huge xbox and movies in awesome room with sweet sound is great
Chainsaw-Because I like feeling like a real man instead of a little nerd

Worst-
Electric weed eater-cause hey, I was in residency and 50 bucks was so much less than 200. Stupid freaking thing couldn't chew its way through more than one blade of grass at a time.

For all you playa's out there...where do swimming pools fall under: Best or Worst Investment?

Best:
1. Roku player - $80 and I could play HBO Go on my TV (months before it came out on Apple TV), while also allowing me to stream pictures from my iphone. Netflix, games, amazon instant video. It's awesome.
2. Martin D-15 - $500 I have had this guitar for 15 years and it still sounds as awesome as the day I got it.
3. Fender Mustang Amp - for $300 I got an amp that can duplicate the tone from any amp from the past 60 years. My Telecaster sounds amazing through it.
4. Slow Cooker - $60, set it and forget it. Braised meats and vegetables waiting for me when I get home.
5. Victorinox 8" chef's knife - $30, retains an edge just like the high end ****. I've had it for 6 years.
6. 2006 Toyota 4Runner - $20,000 Only problem has been a busted head light. 110,000 miles and still going strong. Gets 23 miles/gallon.
Worst
1. Sprint phone service - I'm on a sweet family plan with unlimited data and minutes. It costs a fraction of what the other guys do. Why a bad investment? The service is terrible, but the low cost keeps me from switching.
2. Personal Trainers - $65/hr vs one time $100 cost of Insanity or P90x.
3. Dating Female Doctors
4. Obamacare

Pools are universally money losers. Then again so are vacations and meals at restaurants ...

We get 2-3 months of 100+ degree weather at our house in CA. We put in a pool 4 years ago ... love it, use it about 1/2 the year, at least 4-5x/week during the summer, and the attached hot tub is awesome. Our kids (12, 14, 16) use it all the time, often have friends over. It certainly hasn't increased the house value by near as much as it cost to build. But when we leave it will be a rental, and in that area, that size house, that kind of tenant, an in-ground pool is almost obligatory. CA's central valley heat is oppressive. It's an arid desert, if not for the extensive irrigation it would look like New Mexico.

We're moving back to Virginia next year. Fewer really hot summer months, and it's a wetter heat with lots of summer thunderstorms. Our kids will be older and would probably use one less. The oldest will move out a year after we get there. Not so sure if we'll put in another pool. I'm sure I'll want one, I'm just not sure if I'll want one more than I'll want the other stuff $50,000 would buy.

I've never really felt that pool maintenance was difficult, you just have to keep up with it. 2 or 3 days without chlorine in 110 degree heat and it will be swamp green, and then you'll find yourself shocking it and scrubbing the sides ...

If I had to do it over again, I would not get one. I am jaded because I use it the least, yet I do all of the maintenance. In addition, something always needs repaired. It gets costly.

Best -
Original iPhone - $600. Thus began a wonderful iPhone/Apple relationship.
AppleTV - what a freakin' cool gadget
Martin JC-16RE Aura Acoustic-Electric Guitar
TASCAM US-122mkIl
Logic PRO
Spotify - holy crap this is awesome.

Worst-
CLSN stock right before phase III results. Ugggg...still hurting from that.

Best
Pandora One - Throwing down $30/yr to not have to hear ads for Home Depot every few songs and to not have annoying ads pop up on my phone that are almost impossible to avoid clicking was well worth it. I pretty much just throw it on the Indie Rock station and let it roll...never have to skip songs or hit thumbs up/down. Also the sound quality goes up to 192 kbps which makes it pretty much equivalent sound quality to the rest of my music collection as long as I am on a decent connection.

CSA box - Granted my wife and I are hippy vegetarians, but getting a huge box of fresh organic fruits/veggies from a local farm delivered to our neighborhood for $25/wk is pretty sweet. You get whatever is fresh and in season so sometimes you have to figure out what to do with some veggies that you never cook with normally, but it's been fun and the quality is noticeably better than produce from our local Safeway.

RedZone channel (NFL Network) - Totally the best way to watch NFL games when there are 6 or 7 games on at once. Way cheaper than Sunday Ticket (it's actually free with the basic sports package on Comcast) and you don't have to flip between all the games.
