Kind of a paradox, I know... Looking for an app to make me use my phone less *eyeroll*

But what are the best apps you use to help you limit your phone use during studying hours?

Haha, well that would destroy my phone and that's not... ideal.

Mind giving me a brief summary of how it works?
Don't remember much, used it to study for the mcat forever ago. I know it has a paid version though, not sure if the free trial is still available. You can use it as reference to find it or apps like it

If you have iphone, you can turn off cellular data on specific apps (i.e. snapchat, instagram, facebook) which means you can only use those apps when you have wifi (when you are home).

Or you could turn off notification for those apps, so you are less likely to check on those apps.

Or you could delete the apps/account altogether (which is what I did for lent).

Or there was an app created by UNICEF Tap Project that donated clean water to third world countries for every ten minutes you don't touch your phone. I don't know if the project is still ongoing.

I usually just turn my phone off for blocks at a time. Study hard for a couple of hours, then check whatever you need to

TURN. IT. OFF. 🙄

Check for messages every 3-4 hours.

leave in another room
also delete imessage from mac if you have an iphone

Airplane mode. Can't have much fun on your phone if it can't reach the rest of the world. (Obviously don't do this if others need to be able to reach you. And if you go this route for an extended period of time, maybe tell your mom first).

Yeah, Airplane mode has been my go-to way of doing this during UG and mcat studying. I was just thinking about apps that have more of an incentive, you know? I'll probably end up continuing using the airplane mode though.

Dont have anything to add here, but I love your Avatar!
On second thoughts, a timed safe.

Thank you! Feynman is one of my favorites and him at the Challenger disaster commission is pure gold.

I use an app called Forest. You grow virtual trees for time spent off your phone. You can collect coins and use them to pay for an actual tree to be planted. I really enjoy the app. I don't have to turn off data/wifi, so I can listen to music while studying and I can see messages that on my lock screen (I only allow texts/emails to show up). Good luck
