PS Character Limit

I understand that the limit for the PS is 5300 characters including spaces. Since the AMCAS application does not recognize indents, it’s been suggested that I put a space between paragraphs. In doing so, how much character space do I lose?

If you are so close to the limit that the spaces between paragraphs are too much, your personal statement is probably too long.
