I was wondering if there were certain specialties that the army is supposed to be good at, and others where they suck.

For example:

^Army surgery might not be that great due to low case load and inadequate experience.

I'm specifically interested in emergency medicine or cardiology, but feel free to discuss any other specialties. Any feedback would be appreciated. 🙂

Tough question as there isn't really a simple answer as different hospitals have different strengths and like everything, there are those docs who are great and those who aren't as strong.

I think it is common knowledge that Army Neurosurgery and CT surgeons don't operate as much as they should or would like to.

Primary Care specialties, and medical subspecialties seem strong to me. ER, is tough as there much of the ER work is urgent care stuff and trauma when not deployed is nearly nonexistent.

Agreed. Medicine and it's sub-specialties are comparable to average to good teaching university based programs. They are better than community based residency.
