Best book to read before starting?

OP, if I was your friend, I'd slap you if you read a textbook before starting med school.

Few more days till I finish M1 year, freedom looks so sweet right now. Don't know why you would want to waste your pre-med school time reading textbooks when you will have all of the next two years reading this stuff.

Rumor has it the creator may do a spin-off that is filmed from a different perspective than the J.D. monologue.
not sure if this is what you're talking about, but they have little web-only clips on the main scrubs website of a show called "scrubs: interns" with completely different characters etc. and im pretty sure i read somewhere that many characters are quitting and that JD is coming back for 6 episodes to transition out his character

I'm pretty sure they made it clear JD won't be around anymore in last season's finale. I think you read out of date info.

"Lady Chatterly's Lover" is a good beach read.

I am an EMT and I refer to the Merck Manual all the time when I come into contact with things I have not seen before. It is well written and gives good overviews of diseases and disorders and might give you a good idea of the intricacies of the human body and the VAST amount of things that can go wrong with it. Personally though, I am spending my last few bits of freedom before M1 hits to read fun stuff and travel!

I really liked Intern- I got it over the weekend and finished it tuesday... I started house of god yesterday, and so far like intern way better. Does anyone know of any similar books written by women?

EDIT: I found a book called On Call by Emily Transue. Has anyone read this?

I liked Intern, and Final Exam (which is written by a woman). Both were pretty eye opening and good reads. I also read On Call, but I didn't quite like it as much as the other two.

For a bit of fiction, I recommend The Select, by F Paul Wilson. Fun read.

I think you'll be out of your depth reading a med school textbook in M0. If you don't want to read a novel, maybe read a doctor's memoir? I recommend Another Day in the Frontal Lobe and Final Exam.

If you are really wanting to get some material in your head before you start, pick up Acland's video anatomy. It's swell.

I suggest you to read "Doctors" by Erich Segal or some other novel. 🙂
Enjoy your freedom, don't study. You'll need all the energy you can muster in a few months.
