Robbins and Harrison's will tell you everything you need to know if you have the time and the resolve to read them.

For Micro, I didn't use a book but for some reason a lot of my classmates loved this little gimmicky book called "Clinical Microbiology Made Ridiculously Simple." I couldn't stand the corny sense of humor, so there is no way it could have helped me.

There are a kagillion systems based pathyphys books. Finding the right ones for you is difficult when just throwing the question out there on an online forum.

STARS Pathology by Goljan 1998 (out of print) amazing book, the "Costanzo" of Pathology, very hard to find though

Found one online for $30 with free shipping. I'll say where when it arrives.

is STARS pathology any different from rapid review path?

good question. Sorry, I dont know the answer. I would think though that if the two were similar, it would be better to go with the current RR path book --2007ed v.s. 1998 STARS ed.

Any takers for the difference between the two??

Are you serious? Are you sure its the STARS pathology text and not the review book? I looked on amazon about a month ago and someone was selling the book for close to $300! I thought that was insane, but since its an out of print book, I guess they can charge whatever they want. $30 seems like a steal!

The STARS is a textbook, therefore it explains things much better than the outline format that the RR book is in. Having the concepts written out in paragraphs makes it much easier to learn (for me at least). And almost all of the content is the same as the current textbooks. There arent too many pathologies that have changed a lot in the last 9 years.

Would you be by any chance, selling yours in the near future? 😉
