In the future I will be taking my prerequisites for Chemistry. I was wondering what the individuals on this forum thought was the best book to prepare one for taking Chemistry I and also the Chemistry (Physical Sciences) section of the MCAT. I heard that General Chemistry by Linus Pauling was the best book to prepare one for Chemistry. Is this true? Does anyone know of a better book to prepare me for Chemistry I (and also Chemistry II)?

Any input to the above questions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

If you "heard" this from someone, that's sad. I also heard that organic chemistry was loads of fun but that was just my goat on drugs :scared:

seriously, you're a paranoid poster! one question at a time there 🙂 !! just go with the flow...if things don't work out between you and the book, get some help from you professor! the future is not going to be that difficult if stop worrying now...

BTW, i would post your academic questions about MCAT and prereq classes in the MCAT thread! just for future reference...

If Linus Pauling wrote a gen chem textbook, it probably is one of the best out there since he was one of the greatest chemists of the 20th century.

Ummm, hi kid. Your professor will tell you which book you need to get.
