I was just wondering what the best dental schools in the US were? I saw a previous post, but someone had them from somketime in the past? How does Iowa rank?

Spank you very much😀

Be prepared for the onslaught, my friend. These kids hate being asked about rankings.

Well please forgive me for my ignorance..... I didn't know people would be upset about this kinda thing, I am a budding Pre Dent student and I don't know anything about the schools. SORRY!

I was just being facetious. Though seriously, it kinda does bug them. A little bit.

I guess there is no such thing as the best dental school

Just ones that have great facilities, libraries, labs, higher % of going to specialties, and good clinical training would be regarded as great dental school....

My fiancee interviewed at Iowa last year (although for the ortho program). She was very very impressed with the faculty, the overall facilities, and the dental school. The only thing that kept her from listing it as her top choice is that it is in Iowa. Can't blame her, I grew up in Iowa and I wouldn't want to live there again either🙂

There are no dental school rankings. The ADA has said that if a school is good enough to receive accredidation then that should be all that matters. Some people make the mistake of equating selectivity with suitability or quality, however, it depends on where your professional interests lie. For example, Nebraska and Washington have ridiculously high stats but they really only take in-state students (for the most part). Harvard has high average stats as well but most people would argue that you would be better off elsewhere if you have no interest in research. You really need to define your own interests and then look around for the school that is the "best" dental school for you.
