I want to buy a home to live in with my wife during dental school. It seems especially difficult to get a loan for a home by myself but fairly simple with the help of a c0-signer.

Anyway, does anyone know of any special programs for dental or medical students in this situation? Does anyone know how large a house payment you can make while in dental school just off of dental loans?

I am planning on going to WVU.

Thanks

With semi good credit anyone can get a loan in any circumstance. I know of a student with a wife and kid on welfare that qualified for a $200,000 home with no income and no down payment, the loan was for 100%. He got an all interest loan and an ARM to keep his rates low. Here is the deal: Contact a mortgage company or other lender and explain your situation. Dont be afraid to be rejected, they will do almost anything to get you approved(they make money from it), and keep trying til you find someone who has what you need.

Hey jdj37,

I am buying a home in Oklahoma, but I will be doing it was a co-signer. It has been the biggest pain I have ever been through and it is still not over 😡 , but I am hoping that the return will be worth it. I don't know how else you could do it other than with a co-signer. I have heard of no doc loans, but those come with higher interest rates and seem somewhat difficult to come by. Anyhow, hope that helps.
