Best methods on taking notes/studying?

I don't know how to study, seriously. School me on studying. My idea of it is to try to pay attention in class, use flashcards on the last day for like 30 minutes and then get bored and just wing it on the test. Surprisingly I walk out with an A or a high B. However, that was AP Bio and Bio 102...this wont work in Calc, A&P, Orgo, Physics, Inorganic, etc.
