Hi friends,

How would you rank the several pediatrics residency programs in the NYC area? I'm not very interested in research or publishing or things like that - I'm just interested in a great place to work that's well-respected and an exciting place to learn. I'm a student at Mount Sinai btw.

Also, I see a bunch of Albert Einstein locations: Montefiore, Beth Israel, Jacobi... Anything I need to know about differences in the programs?

Thanks! 🙂

p.s. One more question - is it unwise to only rank NYC-area peds programs? i.e., would I be putting myself at significant risk of not placing? (I'm only an M1, so I'm looking way ahead).

Honesty I think you are definitely way ahead of yourself, and the current state of programs can change over the next few years. So the landscape may be completely different when you are actually ready to rank.

In terms of the 'best' program, it really depends on you and what you want and how you feel at your interview(s). What's right for one person isn't for another, and that's ok. Many people just get a feel for a program and more importantly the people in the program.

As for ranking only in NYC area: you can do that, but be sure to rank enough. Your advisors should be able to help you out based on your performance on rotation and your step scores.

Live a little...NY will still be there when you are done with residency.
