See if your school has a writing center or anything. I had some English PhD student edit mine and he did wonders for the flow/stylistic aspects of my PS.

That kind of stuff is often overlooked and can make supporting your thesis much more effective.

Former mentors! If you have a research mentor (senior faculty type) etc, they have lots of experience writing and so that is very helpful

Read The PreMed Playbook Guide to the Personal Statement book. He gives a ton of examples at the end of the book through multiple drafts. This was really helpful to me
