Which residency program has the best hours for their residents (ie. 8-5, home call, etc...)

Not that I do not want to work hard, but I am simply interested.

Cheers

I remember thinking that the UCLA program was pretty cushy. When I interviewed there, a resident told me her hours were closer to 8:30-4:30 and that she regularly took classes every quarter at UCLA. The UC Davis program is also pretty cushy as well. They have a pretty small inpatient unit and all the call is from home. Both programs are pretty good if you aren't interested in doing inpatient rehabilitation after residency.

if you look at the interview trails post, there's info about work hours at some programs. ( so far, the cush programs that stood out - JFK and UCDavis.)

FYI - home call may not necessarily mean cush - depends on ancillary support - if you have to go into the hospital a lot it's not really as cush as it sounds, right?

I think overall most programs are pretty cush in PM&R. The only program I have seen so far with unhappy overworked reisidents is probably NYU and they have made changes to try to make things better.

hope this helps

and HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!

Agree with above - but I didn't think Temple was that cush. It's in-house call at the new Moss (??) rehab site but need to beeper call temple university hospital. Which means if you have to go into Temple, you have to drive through the ghetto in the middle of the night, park in the ghetto, and walk in the ghetto. Really not the safest location - especially if you are not familiar with area or female.

Agree that JFK is one of the cushest around - they even pay for you to work weekends (admissions and notes), and cover local sports games. NO PEDS CALLat Mountainside either. (Kessler residents do that)

I think in general, most of the bigger programs are in house - like NYU, RIC, Kessler, Temple, etc....
