I am in the early stages of my first job search and it is already overwhelming trying to navigate the job market. Currently one of my major decisions is whether to move to CA where I grew up and have to fight the crowd for a job, or stay in midwest / east coast. I am pretty much looking nationally at first, just to get an overall picture and see what's out there.
I found this "Best places to practice" survey by Medscape. They weigh compensation, low income tax and low competition heavily since the ones that top their list seem like places most people wouldn't consider unless they have some tie to that area. I can't imagine ever moving to Tennessee or Mississippi, for instance. Anybody in a similar position to me that can recommend useful resources about good places to practice, in terms of physician satisfaction and autonomy?
