Hi,

I searched the forums but I couldn't find an answer to my question. I have an undergraduate and graduate degree in psychology from another country (ie non-US and non-Canadian). However, I do have a green card and would not be classified as an international student. I don't have any medical school prerequistes completed from either my home country or the US.

I know that some medical schools require only that I complete the prerequistes from a US or Canadian school and some say I should have completed a degree from a US or Canadian chool. What is the safest or best route to cover the most medical schools and increase my chance of acceptance. Does any anyone have a similiar background? Is there a website or book that identifies what medical schools require for applicants in my situation? Any other advice is also very appreciated.

Thanks,

Safest for you will be to complete a degree in US schools. That will open up more doors for you, but since you have a graduate degree I don't know if you want to repeat the whole undergrad. If you want to save time and money, why not take pre-reqs and apply only to schools that don't require you to have a degree.

I have my undergrad from another country as well. I did my MS in the US. I am now doing Premed to fulfil my Prereqs for Med School (Although I've had Chem, Phys before, they were too old and they were not from a US school). I too have a greencard.

Your best bet is to call the med schools that you are interested in and see if you need a certain number of credit hours from a US instituition. I expect that you would have to do Post-Bac Premed atleast. Good Luck!
