Ok,

So I've been given an $1100 budget by my parents to figure out what type of computer I want during first year, and I have decided that the tablet seems to be the way to go. I read the other thread that talks about notebooks vs. tablets, but I'm just wondering if anyone can offer input on the best "bang for your buck" tablet that's on the market right now. Thanks!

Not many tablets are available under $1100 but I did see one at gateway, I think it's the CX210S...it doesn't ahve the new core duo processor, but it was running about $999. I bought the new CX210X which originally was $1399, but by the time I bought all the extras (service plan, theft plan, etc.) i spent over 2 grand. If you're brave, you might also want to try ebay.

Hi there,
If you decide not to go tablet, there is a Logitech Electronic Pen, that allows you to take notes on electronic paper and load them into your regular computer. The total cost of this device is around $200. The pen enables you to write about 40 pages of notes at a shot and refills are available. I must say, that it works well for me and my tiny Sony laptop.

You can check this out on the Logiteck website Logitech Digital Writing

i picked up a brand new compaq TC1100 from ebay (australia) for $1350AUD delivered, 3 year HP warranty, etc.

Brother also has one. Best buy i've made in a damn long time.
