when do you guys think is a good time to start applying to D-school and taking DAT courses maybe?

Apply first week the application becomes available (mid-may) and take the DAT sometime mid-summer or whenever you feel prepared (whichever comes first).

apply the first day the application comes out (in may i think) during your last year. It would be good if you had your letters of recomendation and DAT scores all ready. if you don't apply early you are really putting yourself at a disadvantage

NO. You should apply during the spring semester prior to your last year. So if your last year is year 4, then you would apply your spring semester of year 3. 🙂
