When is a good time to plan a wedding/honeymoon during 4th year?

My school offers several reading month type electives in which being physically present somewhere is not a requirement so I was thinking doing one of those and getting married during would be ideal. That being said I am currently a second year and have no idea the normal order or importance of the various 4th rotations. My current thinking is to do an AI and a rotation in the specialty that I plan on applying for then doing the reading/wedding rotation which would put it around early/mid fall before interview season.

Is this a bad time to take a month off? Is there anyway to royally screw up 4th year or applying to residences by taking a month off too early? How does step II factor into all of this?

Anyone have any thoughts or experiences in this matter?

Thanks

Here's my suggestions.

1) Early fourth year, your first elective block. If you're applying something that's not a core rotation (Like Derm or ENT or something) you need this time to rotate through this field and get letters.

2) You usually submit ERAS by September 1st, so give yourself a time before that to get your personal statement done, CAF completed, research where to apply etc. After that most interviews are between November and January, so this would probably want to be a time where you can be most free.

3) After that Rank lists are submitted in Feb and then Match day isn't until March. I'm thinking this may be an ideal time, after interviews are over but before matching because you're just going to be waiting around thinking about your match. Good to do something to waste the time.

4) Step II depends on A) How you did on Step 1 and B) How the field you're applying in feels about it. If you did fantastically good on Step 1 and are worrying about improving, take it late. If you did okay or poorly and want to improve, take it early.

Yeah, I would say that any time between February and graduation, excluding match day and the week leading up to it (in case, for whatever reason you have to scramble), are going to be academically not important and you will be suffering from rampant senioritis anyhow. So that would be a perfect time to do a wedding and honeymoon, unless you are in that small percentage of folks who are pushing their Step 2s way back into the year.

Beginning of the year you may still be trying electives to figure out what you want to do with your life, as well as away rotations. Lots of folks squeeze in a sub-I early, particularly if they are going into something where a LOR from that would be useful. Then Nov-Jan tend to be the interviewing months. So that kind of pushes you to Feb anyhow.
