I'm planning on taking the DAT during the summer of 2006 for the next application cycle and was wondering if I'd be at a major disadvantage if I took the test in August than in July. How long after the test is taken are the scores sent to the schools?

One of the most important things is to apply early. With that said, if you submit your application in mid May it will take approximatley 6-8 weeks before it is sent to the schools. So if you take the DAT in June early July ADA will send the scores to your designated schools which will take about 2-3 weeks. But because you submitted your AADSAS application already the schools will be ready for your DAT score. You can send a fax of your scores the same day you take the test. Most Adcom's (admission commitee's) will accept this until your official scores arrive. Remember that your applcation is not complete at most schools until they have everything including the DAT score. I made the mistake of sending my application in late and then AADSAS made a mistake and it delayed it by an additional 5 weeks. APPLY EARLY NO MATTER WHAT!! 🙂

i think the transition from july to august is the time frame that makes an "early applicant" turn into an "applicant" if you know what i mean. My advice is to take the DAT before august begins.
