I having major traveling issues, I cant seem to get anything viable to get to WVSOM. The flights from ny and bos are unrealistically long, and expensive. Amtrak is just as crazy. How did you guys manage to get there? The airfare is running about 400 bucks. Im in boston so its very hard to get there.

It is kind of a pain to get there. I had some interviews in that area and had a rental car. If I were you, I'd see about flying into Roanoke and then renting a car; it took me about 2 hours to get to Roanoke from Lewisburg. I hear it's a beautiful drive (couldn't see anything since it was dark and foggy - wouldn't recommend driving through those mountains in the dark!).

I flew from Boston. It really depends what time you're flying at. Certain days to fly are cheaper than others. If you're flying to Greenbrier, WV, then you'll have a pretty long flight since there is no direct flights from Logan. I had to fly to Atlanta and then fly up. Keep in mind that Lewisburg does not have a taxi or cab service. However, I think the General Lewis can pick you up from that airport. Quite a few people did the rental car thing. That may be cheaper.

I ended up flying (from Chicago) to Roanoke, VA. I rented a car and drove up to Lewisburg (about one hour & 45 min.). The drive was really easy, & the scenery is really beautiful. As for booking a flight, my advice is try studentuniverse's website (so long as you have an acitive university email address), because it saved me $260, which will cover the cost of the rental car & a night at the General Lewisburg Inn (right by the school). Good luck🙂

The shortest drive, I believe, is from Charleston, WV (at least that's what WVSOM told me). That's what I did, anyway, and it was about a 90 min drive after flying into that airport and renting a car. Very scenic drive (and flight) btw. It was awesome.

Anyone else recently traveled or will travel to WVSOM? Im from florida and just got an interview for early february and im excited, but flights to LWB will cost me ~410. Also, does the General Lewis provide free shuttle service from the airport or will i need to pay for it?

We actually ended up flying into DC and out of Roanoke. DC is about 3.5-4 hours drive but it was pretty. Roanoke is about 1.5 hours as is Charleston. We were coming from Colorado and couldn't actually get a flight plan that would get us into LWB. Also, the hotel is literally 5 blocks down the road from the school. Therefore, i do not believe there is a shuttle per say. However, it is walking distance.
