When on in house call - I shop on line. And buy stuff if it has been a productive night.

1) get a bunch of alcohol wipes and meticulously clean every aspect of your stethoscope, your anesthesia machine and the anesthesia cart

2) re-arrange all the stickers on the sticker roll so that they are either alphabetical or follow the colors of the rainbow

3) get a PSP

4) get a comfortable chair, put your patient on auto-pilot and then set your pager to go off every five minutes - that way you remember to look up at the vitals every once in a while - and then close your eyes

5) go to the ICU and chat up the hot nurses (or what ever floor has the most of them)

6) if you really want to be nuts - then go ahead and set-up EVERY OR for the next day's cases
