Hey guys,

Just curious what your opinions are about when the best time to get involved in a research experience during dental school would be..

I assume its good to get involved as early as possible, but I'm just concerned that the workload during the first year or two (depending on the school) would make it tough to find the time to put aside for research.

Hey there,

I noticed no has responded yet so I thought I'd give some input based off of my friend's advice. He is currently an ortho resident at NYU and he started as early as possible because depending on where you want to specialize, that extra year of research really helps. Overall its up to you if you can handle both school and research that early, I would ask in the Columbia thread since current students have a better idea how workload is.

How one goes about joining a lab in dental school? I haven't been accepted yet, but I'm just curious if the process is similar to that of an undergrad research
