Propanolol for sure, atenolol as a backup. Any small dose of an anxiolytic (a benzo) would probably be just as good though too.

hey that's cool
how about i give medical advice....

yeah no

You still pre-pharm? This is all very basic and safe advice for any first-year... the only real edgy implication here is access to these particular drugs without a prescription which is dangerous territory... course you remember the 3-second rule for dropping food? well...

Yeah definitely a noob... just the asking or the answering? Odd rule since that's what we're all here to learn how to do.

RxRob - You're saying P1, correct? I'm PrePharm and don't know much of anything about medications...

I think both are against the TOS.

we're not on the forum to learn how to do it...

that's what pharmacy school is for

fine... go ask alice

My OPINION is that the bright blue pills are the nicest looking and that propanolol is a beta-blocker.

She graduates in a week or two. I believe she was referring to TOS violations.

Ironically I think I am betting my license... since I'm never going to get one if the school I accepted at is lying to me about propanolol being a beta-blocker.

I'm lost, what are we talking about? I will NOT be baited into trolling!

haha
if i were trying to troll you and everyone else would know it...

i'm just pointing out that a comment on a message board is not worth your future....
which is why its a TOS violation

I learned (while studying for finals) that propranolol is an (albeit less commonly) abused prescription medication. The only thing that some classmates and I could come up with was the public speaking deal. Anybody have any experience with seemingly "drug seeking" behavior for propranolol or a better explanation for why propranolol would be considered "abused"?

To clarify....I think you can ask questions here to learn, but only in an academic sense....not in a specific patient (as in yourself or a friend) scenario. The OP's questions was sufficiently non-specific to have it be questionable that it was not just academic. Generally, beta blockers are one of the drugs that can be used for public speaking, but individual physiologic & drug history may determine if these are the best or only choice.

As an abused drug....it is used by some physicians to treat withdrawal symptoms for multiple drug addictions. It is also used by some to self medicate without physician supervision for disorders they might have been diagnosed or not diagnosed with. Because of these uses...some folks obtain it on the street to try & treat themselves which is why it is associated with abuse.

The key to both of these is to have a proper diagnosis, then we can advise with a good drug selection, based on patient specific information - clinical pharmcy 😀 !

If I was allowed to answer I would tell you that Propanolol is used in the treatment of addicts that are coming off methadone or alcoholism to control tremors and fast heart rate. Being that in this case it is used for people who have already established addictive behavior, not only does it become their next faith system as a pill to take that is still ok, but it also carries it's own withdrawal symptoms when taken for a long time....

but as it is, you'll have to look it up 🙄

I know some people who use beta blockers for nerves when it comes to performing arts. I happen to prefer a couple shots of whiskey.

Yall need to get out there and speak, and not be wooses.
That is how I get my job, 30 min seminar or else.
If I can do it with just my morning coffee, you can do it!

Sometimes its not about being a woose. There are those of us that have genuine anxiety issues. I can think of dozens of times these pills would have come in handy for me.
