How do I tell if a question regarding beta emission is talking about B- or B+ emission?

For example, achiever, Gchem test 3, # 47.

I have the same problem...I always assume Beta emission is losing an electron. If it says Beta decay, I assume its losing a B+. Seems to work out for the most part.

yea i was getting lost at first too but now i just assume it means the -1 electron was emitted so I assume it's B- decay (so you add one to the element undergoing decay) unless they tell me it's B+ (in which case you have +1 on the products so you subtract one from the element given)

oh wait do i have it wrong then? what if they don't use the words emission or decay...then don't you just assume B is -1? unless they tell you it's B+ and then you are emitting a positron?
