My friend told me that I have the best chance of admittance in the place where i reside. Which schools give first priority to in state students?

Go on to the PharmCAS website and look at the directory of participating PharmCAS schools. From this directory you can find all the detailed info for each pharmacy school including whether they give preference to in state residents.

While it doesn't state so on their pharmcas page, I have been told that UIC heavily favors in-state students (especially those that went through the University of Illinois system). I remember looking into for last years application cycle and not applying because it seemed like they did not accept a lot of out of state students. Some people also said that it is hard for out of staters in the SDN threads from past years.

Yea UIC is like 200 instate 50 OOS. or 150 IS 50 OOS. Either way they heavily favor instate.
The best state schools are the ones who are required to take a certain % Instate.

I just wanted to point out that UIC no longer favors in-state students. Because of this, about 25% of their incoming class will be out of state (up from 10%)

Ah yes, you're right. This just changed. The reason being that the school is in financial hell (as is the rest of Illinois), so more out of state students=more tuition $

Yes, consider the applicant pool. Some schools just tend to have wayyyyy less OOS applicants than in state, so it might seem they prefer instate, but that might not be the case. I think this is especially true for those that don't use PharmCAS.

Yeah, the decision to accept more out of state students at UIC started this year I believe. It forced a couple of my friends to go to the Rockford campus instead of the Chicago campus 🙁 (that, or it was just more competitive)
