These are a few months old, but I didn't see a post about it. Pretest now has standalone programs of the books (not the cumbersome pdf files found on amazon). It is interactive in that it lets you choose your answer and gives you immediate feedback with right and wrong choices (no need flipping through pages), allows you to review missed answers, randomize questions and answer choices. Basically, it's a lot like qbank for third year. I used the palm version for surgery and loved it because I always had my palm with me and could do questions while I was waiting for an attending to finally scrub into a case. You'd be surprised at how small little bits of time add up! I finished pretest while only doing questions at the hospital in less than two weeks. You can download and purchase trial versions at this site

(I'm not affiliated with brainglue. Just don't want to see other students waste time like I did most of the year)

Palm... only!? 🙁

I think it's only for palm, but isn't there a program that let's you run stuff on PPC?

hi-- wondering if any of you have used the pretest software on www.brainglue.com It looks great but id like to hear feedback if anyone has used it.

I used pretest surgery and pretest neurology from brainglue on my palm. I got them for free, but honestly, I don't think each program is worth $35 a piece especially considering you can't sell it to someone else when you're done with it like you can with the paper editions.

I found a few glitches with the software, mostly with numbering of the questions and very occasionally, the answer choices/explanations didn't match up with the question. Overall though, it's exactly like the paper editions, and the software itself with regards to ease of use and layout is fine.

[thanks a ton! ut did you find it useful to have your palm wit you between cases and during downtime to do a few questions? thanks again

I just called brainglue...they said some program called StyleTap might work but costs around $30.

I'm using it now during my medicine rotation and think it's very good. I think there are very few books that are actually better on the Palm, but this might be one of the few.

I just wanted to echo how great this program is. ( I also dont work for brainglue, but have to admit this program rocks). I have used it for every rotation so far. Its tough to shell out $35 for it (esp since the hard copy is cheaper and you can resell it). But, i think this program is worth it. I would never be able to get through pretest if it wasnt on my palm. Whenever I have just a few minutes downtime, i can do a few questions, and it adds up! I also like the fact that it keeps track of the questions you have answered, and you can jump around to different chapters. you can also review ones you missed if you finish it and want to do it again. i have only noticed a few glitches, nothing major (like only 3 questions that didnt have the right answer, and the neuro section has the chapter headings messed up at the end). also, if you arent sure if you want to shell out the dough, you can download it from the website and put it on your palm, and it gives you free access to the first chapter (need to purchase code to get the rest unlocked). these also fit on your expansion card. 👍 👍
