I want to ultimately end up living in the US (as that's where home is) but I would also like to work in Europe for some time (particularly the Netherlands or Belgium or Norway). Is it possible to come to the US after having worked in these countries. What if I were to write my MLEs right after med school but instead decided to work in Europe? Would the scores be valid 5-10 years from then? Or would you think it's a better alternative to work in the US first and then move to Europe?? Or does the US offer any programs where one can work in a foreign country for a certain period of time??

Thank you guys.

Do a well-paid specialty in the US, save up a nest egg, then do locum tenens in your specialty in the states to maintain your basic expenses and vacation extensively in Europe. I'm sure it's possible, especially if you don't have children and don't try to live in an expensive area of the US.

I think that if you do residency in the US you can work anywhere in the world but if you do residency outside the US you'd need to repeat it to work in the US. So yes it's possible but only under those circumstances.
