Better to work or volunteer?

I offered to volunteer as a tutor at my college teaching medical calculations, basic chemistry and math. The person who ran the tutoring center said "are you sure? We can pay you." Obviously the money would be nice, but frankly I'm more concerned about what looks best on a transcript. Would one or the other be better?
 
Wow - get the paid position!

There is nothing wrong in getting paid to do what you are able to do!!!!

If you want to volunteer...volunteer doing something else....hospital volunteer or Red Cross or food bank....whatever....

Don't be afraid to be paid to do what you're capable of doing!

Agreed. I don't think it will look any less desirable for being paid as a tutor. It still shows an admissions committee that you are interested in helping people.
