It's only been a little over a year that I went through the process, but I don't think there were any "secondary" applications to individual programs like there were when we had applied to medical school. I think the ERAS application is pretty comprehensive, with personal statement, CV and the dean's letter (which is uploaded by your medical school). After that is submitted, programs then make decisions on who they want to grant an interview to, which can be quite variable in terms of turn-around time. Did that answer your question?
