For those interested, please post your MCAT and your step 1 score.

Mine
MCAT: 27
Step 1: 257

note: I realize this is a congratulatory/self-serving thread, but I am also genuinely curious. Please contribute if you feel compelled to do so...

Any tips? What was the biggest difference for you with your approach to MCAT vs Step 1? Mental? Study habits? SHARE YOUR SECRETS WITH US MAN!

Haha! Simmerdownnow 😛

The ultimate difference for me was that instead of trying to learn information while prepping for the MCAT, I instead treated each of my MS2 exams as if they were mini Step 1 exams. That way I had a LOT fewer topics/concepts to learn during Step 1 dedicated studying time vs MCAT dedicated studying time. Studying like this all-year during MS2 gave me a baseline NBME score of 235 6-weeks before the real deal.

My study plan is on the "Scores & Experiences" thread:

I'm going to count my first attempt at the MCAT here because I really got it together for the second attempt, which ultimately got me into med school and wouldn't be as big of an improvement in this thread.

Anyway,
19 ---> 238

31.

I didn't really respect the test for what it was and didn't study at all. I had a Princeton Review book and a Kaplan book. To be honest, just skimmed them and that was all the preparation I made apart from going to my undergrad classes. No practice tests or anything, just the ten or so questions at the end of each chapter in those books. Really eye-opening experience. But yeah, a 31 ---> 238 isn't that impressive to most and for almost everyone on here, it might even appear as a drop. I was grateful for my MCAT and I am grateful for by USMLE score as well.
