Hi everyone, some of my friends are planning to run their own dentistry...

And I'm not pretty sure how they could manage it...

Because for me, running my own business is not as easy as I think...

So, this is a few doubt I had in me...

Hopefully, some of the veterans here can help me solve it out...

  1. What's your biggest challenge/problem when it comes to running your own dentistry?
  2. What is your goal for running your own dentistry? What do you want out of it?
  3. How would it feel if this problem was gone?
  4. What have you already tried in this area? What frustrations did you have?
  5. What are your biggest goals in your business right now? What do you want to change this year?

I would be most appreciated if you guys could give an as much detailed answer as possible.

Thanks in advance.

The biggest obstacle in any private business is money.

1) starting cash
2)generation of cash

The biggest part of money is what do you do when you are not generating cash.

To be a business owner you have to be willing to Sacrifice. What do I mean by that?

Since there is no back up to you as the owner you have to be willing to change your life while the people around you don't. Regardless of how much money you bring in, your employees have to get paid. When you don't have money for rent and payroll things will get shakey.

You owe money and aren't making any. Be ready to change your lifestyle, for example that nice house you bought or car or vacations instantly have to stop. You have personal savings? Great! Now you're using personal money to run your business and you now are losing the retirement fund, college fund, leisure fund. What ever it is adjustmenrs have to be made.

The employees will expect payment and customers will not be ok with cheaping out on services. If you want to have charity work out of your practice and don't have external funding, you have to use profits to cover the costs.

A second major thing is are you MOTIVATED. Many think starting a business is easy, but you might have to work more to get the big rewards you want.

These are for any type of business, but coming from a family who is in health care and business and have lived trough the highs and lows, I'd say money generation and it's subsequent effects are a huge obstacle.
