Billing for ultrasound for regional anesthesia

I know this topic has been addressed before, but we’ve recently received some new guidance for Medicare ( and others) about not paying for the use of ultrasound, even with a printed image and interpretation. Anybody find a workaround yet?

Not sure there is a “workaround.” This is an AMA/CPT rule, not a payer rule, so the changes apply across the board. The good news is that ultrasound guidance may still be separately reported for 64400, 64405, 64408, 64420-64421, 64425, 64430, 64435, 64449, 64450, and 64999.
