Hello all! Long time lurker of the boards but always am a fan of how much content is put out here!

As the title asks, is the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at SUNY Binghamton the worst pharmacy school in NYS? I have long heard that Touro usually gets ranked near the bottom but this being the first year that they will have to report their NAPLEX and MJPE scores I am curious to get some thoughts on this. 8 pharmacy schools is a lot in NY (granted it is not as many as some states) but Binghamton does compete with Buffalo, ACP, and St. Johns (I guess Fisher can be added in there).

From what I have heard so far, they have a NAPLEX passing rate of 74% and a MJPE passing rate of 43% (class size was about 55 students in their very first class).

why is the mpje so much lower, as it's an easier test, even with the compounding component? 75% isn't as bad as many schools these days.

I heard 2 recent graduates got industrial fellowship and a bunch in residency from Binghamton's pharm school

Well I guess the students were lying! 🤣

Yea probably…. Just hearsay.

Are you a student there or are you a faculty in some capacity?

What was their published NAPLEX/law exam pass rates? How do they compare to the average pass rates of schools in 2010?

Most schools have a profile of top students (same as always, but with more attitude/ego), average students (which are now above average), below average students (which make up a third of students), and students that never learned how to study, maybe have a learning disability (about 9 percent).

So it's perfectly possible, Binghamton had some hotshot students. The main concern of the school is NAPLEX rates, as that seems to be the only public metric. Does the accrediting body care about that or anything?

I have the answer for you...it's really two factors. The first class had a number of students who should never had been accepted into the program and the law class that was taught in the first year (!) had a terrible professor who was a part time visiting with no interest in teaching...3 years forward there was nothing to add to that and the students were pretty much on their own trying to learn the material for their specific state. same situation with the second class to be honest and I wouldn't be surprised to see the same results this year and the year after because they neeed to find someone solid to teach law and move it to third year...in terms of NAPLEX prep though I think it had very good prep in therapeutic subjects. Most of the staff professors are very good

UB teaches law year 1 and is consistently near the top of the state in MPJE pass rate so I wouldn't put too much emphasis on this. But I always thought year 3 made a lot of sense.

Funny you mentioned that! UB course is just great! Binghamton did UB (!) course review for students for free this year ( after getting the first numbers I guess, lol). They basically paid for all the students to join Fiebelkorn's 3 day review which was great! His notes are very "on point" with some questions etc...I know a number of people who passed already so hopefully the stats will improve... I mean there were not even decent notes from P1 course in 2017 and 2018, the professor pretty much would copy and paste majority of the regulation pages verbatim and put a few paragraphs per slide (about 200-250 slides/lecture) and then we would jump from slide 30 to 52 to 95, lol she was like "ehhh, these parts are not important" or "actually let's go back and refer to the page with title 10 part 80. 84 before reading this next paragraph" LMAO

Fiebelkorn, whose only pharm experience was as a manager of Fayes, a defunct pharmacy retail chain, was a laughing stock of the school, professors and students alike. He is still around giving firm handshakes and punative pontifications?

The worst pharmacy school in NY? Nah that goes to Touro
