hello everyone,

i was wondering if taking biology at my CC would look harmful on my application. personally, it seems if i do really well that it wouldn't matter, but i would rather hear from people who have been down the DO school route before i make any final decisions.

thanks!

I did that for many classes (pre-req and not) and didn't have any problems 👍

I took both semesters of gen. chen at CC and had no problem with admissions. Just make sure you do well in them.

I did all of my prerequisites at a CC and it only came up at one school, the school I'm at now.

Taking bio at a CC will most likely not hurt you. I took bio I & II at a very well-known CC and it was a cake walk for an A. The labs were also pretty pathetic. If I had taken them at my university I would have had to struggle to do really well.

However, I took evolution, genetics, chem, orgo, and physics at my regular university. I do know of a few med schools that post on their website that they frown upon CC classes, but they are few and far between.

Bottom line, just don't take all your prereqs at a CC and you should be fine. CC classes make for great GPA boosters!
