Bio enzyme Question.

With competitive inhibitors they can be over come by increasing the substrate concentration. Can someone explain to me how this works. I don't understand how once the inhibitor is bound it would want to disconnect from the enzyme just based on concentration. Thanks!!

Competitive inhibitors can bind to the enzyme at the active site just like a substrate can bind to the active site. Therefore they compete with the substrate. In order to increase the probability of a substrate binding and not a competitive inhibitor you can increase the concentration. Therefore, the substrate will out number the competitive inhibitors and out "compete" them...
 
So it doesn't have to remove the competitive inhibitor it just increases the likely hood that other enzymes with bind a substrate and not an inhibitor. So it just increases the over all success not the individual success????
